Who runs it
A cathedral is not run by its bishop. It is governed by its Chapter, which is a charity in its own right.
The Chapter
A cathedral is not run by its bishop, which surprises almost everybody.
The Minster is governed by its Chapter — the Dean and four canons, with lay members — which is a charity in its own right and legally separate from the diocese. The bishop has a seat in it and no vote.
Chapter meets monthly. Its minutes, its annual report and its accounts are published, and anybody may ask for them.
Who does what
The Dean
The Very Revd Helen Attwater. Chairs Chapter and is responsible for the whole of it — the worship, the building and the money.
The Canon Precentor
The Revd Canon Obi Nwachukwu. Everything that is sung or said, the choir, the organ, and the shape of the year.

Anna Ridout, Cathedral Safeguarding Adviser. Independent of Chapter and contactable directly — details below, deliberately not buried.
Safeguarding
Everyone working with children or adults at risk here — clergy, staff, choir parents, vergers and volunteers — is DBS-checked and trained on a three-year cycle, and two adults are present at every activity involving children.

Concerns about anyone in a position of authority here, including the Dean, should go to the National Safeguarding Team rather than to Chapter. You do not need to raise it with us first, and you should not feel you have to.
